Mr. Chávez is a first generation student from Flushing, Queens. His mother is from Colombia, and his father is from Perú. He learned to speak Spanish by spending his summers visiting his grandmas. After taking AP Spanish his teacher told him he didn’t know his accent marks so he decided to study Spanish at The City College of New York. After graduating he spent some time working at non-profits until he decided to be a teaching fellow and found his way to Bronxdale High School. In his free time Chávez enjoys reading, walking around Manhattan and playing video games.
